"Touching the Pond"

So I always said i would take some time to decompress and share my reflections on the journey. At this point, about 4 months after said journey, I certainly have had enough space away from the trip to know how it has affected me. Most notably, my work has grown. I think it wasn't just my physical body wandering but my imagination also; and my new paintings and drawings reflect this in their experimentation. My travels also gave me incredible confidence. The speed in which I had to finish the mural projects set me up for my next endeavor: a solo show in Philadelphia. The 2 months following the trip were spent putting together (an almost) entirely new collection of paintings for a show I, rather appropriately, called "SPACES." The show opened in January and has already begun to receive some success, a happy outcome that will inevitably help support more trips, more experiences, and more sustenance to my work.

Without a doubt, the trip serves as a turning point in my career & in my life; and it will always be held preciously in my mind.
