Sometime after crossing the longest bridge in the united states, (for serious: 24-miles of concrete over Lake Pontchartrain,) I left my cell phone in a porta-potty in some lake-side-public park in Mandeville. The fatal error amounted to 4 trips over the bridge, nearly 100 miles, and unfortunately, still a phone-less girl.
The extra trips across the causeway did give us the opportunity to take more photographs:
Luckily, mishaps have subsided since and the grand old city has shown us a hell of a time. Monday night on Frenchmen St. was unforgettable. The band at the Spotted Cat was entirely on point-- so syncopated, so energized and enthused. Super nice fellows as well! Met up with the drummer, Julian "The Hurricane," today who taught me a few new drum patterns and techniques.
If you ever are visiting N'orleans make sure you check out Frenchmen St. The whole block is great fun. Live music, no covers, cheap drinks-- what more could you ask?
Other good fortune made it's way to me down here in the deep south of 'Merica---or the far North of the Caribbean, depends who you ask---the Scitech Academy, a charter school here in the city, took me up on a mural donation to their school. I put in 4 hour sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and a 6 hour session today. I got one more session tomorrow... I'ma make it a quick one if I can manage it---Miss Sarah and I would like to make a trip to the beach in Mississippi. Here is a sneak preview of the piece before Sarah shoots a wide angle version tomorrow:
