Asheville

Hello all,

As Ms. Aj so eloquently stated yesterday, our stay in Asheville has been quite blissful.  My friend Leila (and her boyfriend Mark) have been wonderfully hospitable, providing us with a great big bed and two dogs to keep us company.  Their newly-purchased house is a cute set-back-from-the-road-into-the-woods type of place (as seen below).

Our drives yesterday and today along the Blue Ridge Parkway were absolutely gorgeous.  My heart literally stopped and fluttered at the same time when we ascended into the clouds.  Yesterday's trip was a bit more overcast and fog-drenched, which yielded me the opportunity for many dramatic photographs.  Today's drive was less foggy and filled with new outlooks and a longer route.  I managed to find more mountain vistas and also small hidden woods (swarming with bees, might I add).

Tomorrow we set off to New Orleans, bright and early.  We'll be there about a week, maybe longer.  I'm really excited to spend time in that city, as it's one I've heard so much about but have never visited.  I'm excited to be able to photograph yet another different location, and I'm happy to be able to visit more friends from not-so-long-ago (aka college friends).

I'm leaving you with two photographs from yesterday's escapades.  One is a triptych I made, which I think is quite lovely (and quite different from my South Dakota work!).  The other is a photo of Ms. Aj; and though she may dispute it, I believe it is just as lovely as the former.

Signing out from North Carolina,

Sarah
